You're probably wondering why your name is being shown at VoxProperty.com, next to your address. The answer is simple: you live at the address, and by Texas state law, the tax information, including owner name, is part of the public record. That means you and I have the right to view it, copy it, and redisplay it as we see fit. VoxProperty.com, in fact, copies data annually from the Harris County Appraisal District (HCAD). You can view the exact same information on HCAD's website.

Many people have privacy concerns about owner information being displayed next to physical address. We respectfully acknowledge these concerns, but privacy cuts both ways. Wouldn't you want to know if a sex offender or ex-con lived next door to you? Most people would say yes. But without the public disclosure of information, you'd have no way of knowing. Privacy advocates should also note no shortage of internet sites, which for a fee will tell you FAR more about an individual than VoxProperty.com.

Luckily for privacy advocates, however, individual property owners may petition HCAD for removal of name information (but not property details) from publicly released data. Steps to remove your name from VoxProperty.com

Fill out the following form and send to HCAD: http://www.hcad.org/pdf/forms/GTA-IAD-016.pdf.
Notify us by e-mail: webmaster@voxproperty.com, telling us your name and address.
We will replace your name with "CURRENT OWNER", consistent with HCAD's policy.
You must follow step 1) before step 2)! If you do not, your name is still in the public record, and we will display it next year, when we get new data from HCAD.
